We are very excited to compete in front of our family and friends again this year at the TPASC! As a team we have taken some incredible leaps these last few weeks. We still have a lot of work to do and details to perfect, but I am proud to say that we are going to be ready for these Games.

Day 139

Good Morning Friends!!

It seems that I struggle to write posts after practices because… Well… I’m asleep by 8pm now-a-days… Our hours of training has increased drastically this month with Pan Ams and Worlds soon approaching, so I am finding time to scribble down some notes while I walk to the Metro in the morning.

It’s a beautiful, crisp day today. I look like I haven’t slept in days and am wearing big sweatpants with a baggy sweater… The same outfit I’ve been wearing for the last 3 days. Oops. But at this point there’s less than 12 hours between the time I get home in the evenings and the time I jump in the pool the next day. Why waste energy on laundry!!

Anyway!!

This week we had a couple of special guests visit us to check out our routines. We mainly focused on our execution and synchronization of the elements and pattern changes; something we really needed! Showing our routines, which have changed since the Shiseido Open, we were pleasantly surprised but the reactions we received! Lots of positivity being given to us as well as some tough love, which is always necessary to keep the fire burning. Leading me to the next topic of conversation…

As a team we have watched our competitors at their events in Europe. They are fighting full force for that last qualifying spot at the Olympic Games. We are in that same position. If we don’t give our everything at the pool each day we will miss out on one of the greatest opportunities in our athletic careers. Each competition we have gone to has taught us a lesson from which we have grown and improved our skills. Now we need to keep the drive! We’ve got less than 50 days to the Pan Am Games and around 300 days until the Olympic Qualifier. Time is not entirely on our side, but with the way we have been training we can take a huge step forward!

As I have now run out of metro stations and am finally walking into the pool, I will wish you all a fantastic start to your weekend! Enjoy the semi-nice weather and rest up… Monday always comes too soon!! 😉

Day 118

Hello Everyone,

What a fantastic week of competition! Congratulations to all of the swimmers who participated in the event; a great show of endurance, athleticism and talent.

Over these National Championships, Team Canada shared our new routines to the audience. A first showing of what we have been working so hard to accomplish. The Duet and Solo, of course, had some fantastic swims in all events! During this season they have competed many times, giving confidence to our girls and some much needed experience for the Pan Am Games in July. We know that they will do us proud!

Our team, in turn, competed for the first time this year and I must say we did so with conviction. We have been training tirelessly for good swims and that is what we got. Our team performances were not perfect as we still have much to work on for The Pan Am Games, but we are taking steps in the right direction!!!

Team Canada

We are a calm force. This weekend we proved that to ourselves. It has been a great learning experience and we will continue to grow from this. All of our hard work up to this point is starting to take shape, now all we need to do is continue the momentum!

Thank you to all of the volunteers, judges, event managers and the many more who helped make this Nationals possible. We had a fantastic time, whether it was swimming with young girls, competing our routines or cheering for our home clubs!

Again, a huge congrats to all of the competitors and champions of this event. We are very proud of our fellow Canadians and hope to return the feeling in the near future.

Much Love,
